The lull between Christmas and the New Year and what a magical couple of days here in France.
Cold winter air this morn and frost sparkling in the sunlight. Beautiful. The little chimney smoking away this eve against the starry starry sky. This weather is a delight after quite a soggy month.
Today the sea was as still as a lake and cormorants and herons fished side by side against a stunning backdrop of oaks and maritime pines. I just sat in the sun and took it all in.
France is big enough not to feel crowded, ever. Even in summer this beautiful part of the world isn’t heaving at the seams in the slightest.
But right now it really feels like winter and I love it. I am grateful for the wood fire downstairs, for good food to share and good people to love.
I hope you enjoy this fine weather while it is with us.
